August 5 marked the start of the Australian Dental Association’s (ADA) annual event - Dental Health Week!
Dental Health Week takes place during the first full week of August and is organised by the ADA with the purpose of ensuring Australians are aware of the importance of oral care. Key messages of Dental Health Week 2019 include:
-Ensuring teeth are brushed twice daily with a fluoride based toothpaste
-Maintaining a balanced diet with limited sugar consumption
-Booking consistent check ups with the dentist
These key messages all tie in to the 2019 theme of Dental Health Week, “How’s Your Oral Health Tracking?”. With alarming statistics showing that 65% of Australians haven’t visited the dentist in the last 2 years, the need for an increase in oral health awareness is needed now more than ever!
